Gene started out in the automobile industry in 1990 selling Pontiac’s in Arlington, Texas. Special Financing was not prevalent in new car stores at the time but Gene felt that it was becoming an important part of the business. When one of the dealer principals moved to another location Gene went with him and set up what became known as a “2nd Chance Finance” program.
By getting involved and succeeding in the 2nd Chance program Gene got recognition by a lender and was referred to another franchise store in South Dallas where he became the “Credit Wizard”. Revenue generated by the “Credit Wizard” became 20% of the dealership’s sales and Gene was moved into the Finance Director’s position.
Gene moved to a North Dallas Volvo operation as Finance Manager, and within a few weeks Gene became the GSM and brought some Special Financing to their operation. These dealership successes continued at different locations until an opportunity opened up within the Sewell Automotive Group where Gene was called on to open a second BHPH location.
After his stint with Sewell, he opened BestRide, Inc. for a Ford dealer in Arkansas. During the BestRide tenure, Gene wrote a number of articles about BestRide and their operation which led to speaking engagements at Auto Industry conferences across the country. Currently, Gene is involved in building a new location of a BHPH automotive division for a national Finance Company.
